That's beautiful. My new favorite blog!

I am SO not going to read that. The last thing I want to think about is what a sullen/disaffected/mentally unstable waiter or waitress might do to my food. No. I can't. Not even a peek.

Of course my fears were TOTALLY unjustified:

No my gastrically fearful friend - I would never spit
in your food. www.waiterrant.blogspot.com is not
about gross out manuevers.

There are far worse things I can do! Read it!

Re: PS

From what I read, it's not about nasty waiter tricks. It's stories about customers so awful YOU want to spit in their food. The link above actually takes you directly to a very funny post about some wait staff dealing with an arrogant philanderer.

Re: PS

I read some of it: the story about waiter who had to administer the Heimlich Maneuver to a physician, then received a meager 10 percent tip, was pretty funny. And I had NO doubt that the blog would feature self-important, impossible-to-please, abusive patrons. But you know what? I've lived in New York City for most of my adult life: it's not exactly an eye-opener that restaurant patrons can be pigs.

I think part of the problem is the way this particular ecological niche in the service economy tends to operate. To be tipped well (in other words, to make a living) you have to suck up to people, some of whom you'd rather pith with a kebab skewer. Over time, even a decent, hardworking, positive human being will find it very difficult to avoid becoming a resentful, self-pitying wretch. I'd just as soon avoid both sides in this scuffle.
