Witty, Vivacious Spawn of Satan
Given that she's expressed a wish for Timothy McVeigh to have bombed the New York Times (a quote she stood by in later interviews), it's hard to imagine how Ann Coulter could get any loopier. But this bizarre article might qualify.

The "news story" is about USA Today's refusal to publish a barely coherent column about the Democratic (or, as she would have it, Spawn-Of-Satan) convention. So in this completely bizarre piece, she writes about herself:
Banned In Boston!
The Ann Coulter Column Too Hot for USA Today

by Ann Coulter
Posted Jul 26, 2004

Ann Coulter, the witty, vivacious HUMAN EVENTS columnist and best-selling author, was hired by USA Today to offer commentary about this week's Democratic National Convention, but her first column was summarily rejected late last night.
At one point, she reveals that she agrees with herself:
In a sort of package deal, USA Today plans to have Michael Moore offer commentary at the Republican National Convention next month."My guess is they will 'get' his humor" said Coulter. We agree.</a>
We who, Ann? Those little voices in your head aren't real.

Yeah, I saw that USA Today spiked her column. And despite my dislike of Moore, I think he's hardly her ideological oppostite. I guess USA Today couldn't get Stalin.

There is certainly no counterpart for her in modern political discourse. The old-line totalitarian communists are mostly dead. Maybe you could pair her off with some extreme black nationalist who believes that white people were created by the Devil in a laboratory somewhere. (Which, come to think of it, would explain a lot about Coulter...)

Boy, the quality control in that laboratory must've sucked: "Ah, geez, another one. Put her in the bin with the Schafleys and we'll recycle them for parts later."

This is the best response. There's really nothing one can say about Ann that hasn't already been said.

That didn't stop me from mouthing the one curseword I promised myself I would never use (except in absolute emergencies) as I read this. Here's to Ken and his self-control!

Yes, Coulter stands on her own -- no amount of commentary can equal what she says about herself. But I would have pointed out anyone who claimed to be any kind of journalist writing so ludicrously about him or herself.
